George Lucas loves Formula 1 racing

The creative mind behind the Star Wars franchise, George Lucas, may love everything related to the Star Wars verse and even science fiction movies (particularly sci-fi films created by Stanley Kubrick), but he also has a strong passion for other areas of life: such as Formula 1. The 78-year-old has a long and friendly history with F1 racing.
He made a very wise visit to the Renault team in 2017 on a day that was the 40th anniversary of the F1 team and the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. The two forces also posed for a picture together, which can be seen below.
He could be seen spotted at Silverstone GP and later the F1 Grand Prix in Austin, TX in 2021. It’s obvious that a billion people are in awe of Chewbacca, but Lucas draws inspiration from none other than Lewis Hamilton. Back in 2015 — the same year that the Force Awakens made its debut — the genius filmmaker celebrated Lewis Hamilton’s victory at the Italian GP (as he also interviewed him).
Lucas isn’t the only top-tier celebrity that’s expressed support for the mythical F1 driver for Mercedes. Samuel L. Jackson, Leonard DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, and many, many others have been strong supporters of Hamilton throughout the years.
The force was with F1 at the Miami Grand Prix in 2022, too. Lucas, Michelle Obama, Michael Strahan, and Jeff Gordon could be seen at the GP. It will be intriguing to see which GP Lucas flies the Millenium Falcon to next. It could also be stated that F1 and Star Wars might just be the best combination of entertainment in the eyes of millions of spectators.
